Continued Innovation: Peterbilt Motors Company Introduces its Newest Electric Vehicle Line-Up

Peterbilt continues to build on its commitment to zero-emissions transportation with its latest expansion of its electric vehicle (EV) lineup, introducing the all-new models 536EV, 537EV, and 548EV. The medium duty EV’s broaden Peterbilt’s zero-emission offerings while delivering the performance, safety, and versatility that customers need across a wide range of applications.

Built on proven platforms, the new EV models offer zero tailpipe emissions and are supported by the latest safety and driver-assist technologies. Designed specifically for the demands of medium duty operations, these trucks deliver efficient performance, fast charging, and flexible configurations that help customers stay productive while moving toward cleaner operations.

Peterbilt Medium Duty EV Line-up

“With this expansion of the Peterbilt EV portfolio we have reached a new milestone in possibilities for commercial vehicle electrification,” said Paul Fehn, Director of Electric Vehicle Sales at Hunter Truck. “It is exciting to see this advanced technology unlocked for such a broad spectrum of use cases.” 

The Models 536EV and 537EV are engineered for regional delivery, service, and utility operations; while the Class 8 Model 548EV supports vocational configurations and 4×2 tractor applications, including PTO-driven equipment such as dump trucks. Each model features EV-exclusive accents, including blue highlights on the crown and grille, along with a purpose-built interior designed for electric vehicle operations and driver comfort.

Key Performance and Capability Highlights Include:

  • Two battery capacity options with a maximum range of up to 280 miles
  • Rapid 350kW DC fast charging, enabling up to 60 miles of additional range in just 30 minutes
  • Furnished-by-owner ePTO options rated at 25kW (two-battery configuration) or 150kW (three-battery configuration)
  • Standard Bendix® Fusion™ Stop & Auto-Go Advanced with pedestrian detection and high beam assist
  • Configurable PTO controls and switches
  • Industry-standard body lighting connections
  • Customizable frame layout options
  • Best-in-class ergonomics, LED lighting, and driver comfort

Powering the next generation of Peterbilt medium duty EVs is the PACCAR ePowertrain, an advanced electric vehicle architecture also used in the 567EV and 579EV. This scalable platform allows Peterbilt to deliver consistent performance across a wide range of models and applications.

PACCAR ePowertrain Features Include:

  • Midship-mounted dual electric motors with an integrated three-speed transmission for seamless shifting with no torque interruption
  • Multiple power options delivering up to 605 horsepower and 1,850 lb.-ft. of torque
  • Proven lithium iron phosphate battery chemistry for durability and reliability
  • Selectable three-stage regenerative braking
  • Flexible architecture supporting existing suspension systems
  • Compatibility with 4×2 and 6×4 configurations, wheelbases of 163 inches or longer, and applications up to 82,000 lbs. gross combined weight

The EV-focused design extends into the cab, providing drivers with intuitive technology and thoughtful functionality.

Beyond its full lineup of EVs, Peterbilt also supports customers as an EV development partner, working with top providers to make charging simple and reliable. Customers have access to a full range of AC and DC chargers through PACCAR at Peterbilt dealerships, with options up to 400kW, along with planning and installation services through trusted partners QMerit and Schneider Electric.
